Framed Monogram

For Christmas a couple years ago I made this framed monogram for my SIL, with the color scheme of her wedding.

Framed Monogram

Framed Monogram

This isn’t the greatest picture, but I was really happy with the results! I bought a 16×20 black frame (keep the cardboard that is behind the glass, you will use this), wooden letters & numbers,ย  and purple paint from ACMoore, and damask (black & white) and purple fabric from Joanne’s.

First I cut the damask fabric, the length & width of the frame and I painted the letters purple (only the top and sides, the bottom will be glued down), I did probably about 2-3 coats of paint.

Next, I took the cardboard from the frame (found behind the glass) and using Aleene’s tacky glueย (might not be the best thing to use, but it worked well for me :-)), I glued the fabric to the cardboard (I just drizzled lines all over then after attaching the fabric, I smoothed it out). Let this completely dry!

After the fabric is dry and the letters are dry, you can go ahead and arrange the letters and numbers how you want them, then glue them down using the tacky glue.

And you are done! Just let it completely dry before you pick it up, we don’t want any mishaps!

**I also made a fabric flower to put on as an accent, you can find the pattern here. The pattern calls for ribbon, but I used fabric and, it was pretty easy! I also added two black & white buttons just for a little more of a pop!

Enjoy!

Cookie Creation Plans

PLANS!! WHAT?!? I have plans? Funny right hahaha! I am the queen of plans ๐Ÿ™‚

So anyway, I have tons of Ideas and plans to make a ton of fun cookies! I have made some before and oops never wrote the recipe down so I need to re-make them (bugga!), and some I have tried and failed so I am working on fixing them!

Here is a list of all the deliciousness to come (in no particular order!):

Skittles Delight Cookie – Working on, 1st attempt failed but I am almost there!

Cherry Cheesecake

Smore’s Cookie

PB&J Thumbprint

French Toast Rounds

Butterfinger Surprise Truffles

Cherry Almond Tasties

Oreo Almond Joy Bars

Rolo Bars

Nutty Brownie Bites – Made before, but I need to recreate and write down the recipe!

White Chocolate Oreo Cookie – Made before and surprise have no recipe!

Strawberry Champagne Cookie

I have other cookies I had created way back when and have no idea what they were…I guess this is what happens when you don’t write them down…fail! I’m sure more will come to me and those can be a surprise! I am thinking I want to make some sort of Whoopie Pie or sandwiched cookie too…so we will see!

Which cookies would you like to see me make next or what are you most looking forward to? Any encouragements would be great ๐Ÿ™‚

Cow Themed Baby Shower

You know that Minnie banner I posted a couple days ago? Well I had the honor of throwing that little girl (well her mom) a baby shower too!

Now this was one of my first “events” that I planned so it isn’t the greatest but it turned out well thanks to the help of my Best Friend!

Here are the pictures from the party…thankfully my Best Friend remembered to take pictures! Love her!!!

Our table setting

Our table setting

For the Table we had a white table cloth with black & white plates and white silverware wrapped in cow print napkins. For the centerpiece we had little cow planters that we stuck a balloon weight in, that was tied to one pink, white and cow print balloons.

Favors

Favors

For the favors, they were little cow statues that we found at the Christmas tree Shops (for the record I thought these were HIDEOUS, but knew my sister would love them!), that we wrapped in netting and tied curling ribbon to. We also had candy boxes with the cowtails candy in them, which went with the theme and is one of my sisters favorite candies.

The Diaper Cake

The Diaper Cake

This is a diaper cake my Best Friend & I made for my sister. Just made with diapers and cute little things she would need for Chloe. I love the pink cow on top, it is funky but oh so soft!

The paint a onsie table :-)

The paint a onsie table ๐Ÿ™‚

We also had a Paint-A-Onsie table, everyone was able to paint a onsie for Chloe, this was used as a guestbook and the best/cutest painted onsie won a small prize.

Here is just one of the cute onsies, I’m pretty sure my Aunt made this ๐Ÿ™‚ So crafty!

Well that is about it, we had some games that I really can’t remember anymore, but we did some things that I think are great for any baby shower, here are some tips!

1. Have everyone write their address on an envelope that belongs to the thank you cards (yes this means you have to buy them in advance lol), but it helps the mommy to be, all she would have to do is fill out the card and put it in the mail, not only that but it saves her the hassle of getting addresses that she may not already have.

2. When you send out the invites, put a little note in there saying if you bring a pack of diapers (any size) you will be entered into a raffle. This is Great! They will have a chance to win a prize but also the mommy to be will have a bunch of diapers (this would really help them out, these babies are expensive!)

It was a fun day, my sister got a lot of great gifts and now beautiful Chloe is growing up fast and is as precious as ever!

Huge thanks!ย Just want to thank some key people in the success of the party! Obviously my Best Friend who is always my right hand! My sister in law who helped out a lot and made sure things went smoothly! My mother in law who helped prepare the food. Also my mother for providing the beautiful cake!

My Standard Cookie Dough

I have played with many varieties of cookie dough until I found the best combination. This is a standard sugar cookie dough that you will see as the base of many of my cookies that you will see me create.

I have probably been in a cookie creating rut for a little over 6 months now and I was hoping that this blog would give me the boost that I needed and get me back into the swing of things!

In the next couple weeks and the many to follow, I hope to share some cookie creations with you! I have created one and have tons of other ideas and I can’t wait to test them out and share them with you.

I figured since you will see this as the base for many of my cookies, I would share this recipe with you first ๐Ÿ™‚

Sugar Cookie Dough

Ingredients:

1 1/2 sticks of butter (softened)

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup sugar

2 eggs

2 1/2 cups flour (sifted)

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 375ยฐ

Mix butter & sugars

Add eggs & vanilla

Add sifted flour, salt & soda

Place teaspoon full drops of dough on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 10 mins.

Easy and Simple Ambrosia Salad

Ever need a quick, good dessert? Well this is one for you! A lot of people think that an ambrosia is a big to-do but it can actually be very simple, and taste pretty amazing! Here is one of my husbands favorite desserts and one that would be a great last minute dessert for any party or get together!

Simple Ambrosia Salad

1 carton of Cool Whip

2 cans of Fruit Cocktail

1/2 bag of Marshmallows

Fold the Cool Whip into the Fruit Cocktail & Marshmallows in a medium bowl, and you are done! Scoop some into a bowl and enjoy!

**Sometimes we even add some chunked pineapple (canned) or some green grapes, it all depends on your mood and how easy and quick you want it ๐Ÿ™‚

I LOVE when life is EASY!!!!

Minnie Themed Birthday Banner

A while back, my beautiful Niece turned ONE! My sister had a Minnie themed 1st Birthday Party,ย  and even thoughย  I was unfortunately unable to attend I was able to contribute a pretty little banner! Here is the Minnie inspired banner that I made for her!

Happy 1st Birthday Chloe Banner

Happy 1st Birthday Chloe Banner

I just cut out all the letters and numbers out on red & white polka dotted paper using my Cricut, and cut out black circles as the letter background. I cut out smaller black circles to make Minnie’s head & ears, then cut out little bows using the red & white polka dot paper.

I’m not a perfect Banner maker but I am getting there, the multi tiered ones are a little tricky!

Any 1st Birthday is a blast even though it is more for the parent than the kid & I am bummed I missed it! Love you Chloe!
